Reviewing 2

Like I said in my previous blog, I will actually be talking about the presentation info in this one.

I think the presentation that was the most interesting to me was also the one that was the most annoying. You'll have to read my other blog to find out about that though (group three). Burn Rate sounded like an interesting book. I like that it wasn't just facts and stuff like that it was more the author's experiences in life. Even though the presenters told us that he probably wasn't that great of a guy I'd rather read something like that.
In this presentation I learned a few things. Like Burn Rate pretty much is a negative cash flow. Which sucks. No one likes negative cash. I also learned that users of the World Wide Web increased by around 1,000,000 people every year from 1992 to 1995. I'm not surprised that people started not wanting to deal with Michael Wolff (author) after a while. He gave off the impression that he was just in it for the money and seemed willing to exploit people to get it. There's a lot more that I could write from off my notes but it's late and I'm tired so Good night all!

Reviewing Presentations 1

So it's now Thursday afternoon and I have two more blogs to post. Yay! Too bad I don't know what to say. From looking at other's blogs about the presentations it seems that I'm supposed to write on what they were about but I would be more interested in writing about how the presentations went. So I propose a compromise. Seeing as how I have two blogs about presentations to post one (this one) will be one how I think they went and the second will have more of the informational focus.

Over all I believe that all of the groups did a fine job (just putting that out there first because I will probably criticize some of them). Some obviously prepared more than others but that's pretty typical.
The first group was really well put together and they had all planned out what was going to happen nicely.
The second group was interesting because the first guy that talked was really into it and very interesting but then after that they spoke less and no one seemed as well prepared as him. When he was talking it was easy to pay attention.
Ooo we've come to the third group. To be fair I think that they did a really good job, it just kind of bugged me how one guy seemed to take control of the whole presentation and it kept going back to him practically after every other person talked. He seemed to know what he was talking about but it just bugged me. It was a Group project not a one man show with his back-up singers there to help out. Sorry! My opinion.
Next up was my group. I think that we did fairly well. We did have some serious mess ups behind the scenes but you don't need to know about those. I just wish that I could talk better in front of people. I never have to worry about presentations being long enough cuz I stutter and lose my place a lot. Oh well.
On the last day there were two presentations. The first group up did the same book as my group. It was good to hear about it when you weren't standing in front of class so that I could take notes for the test but sometimes it was hard. That group didn't do well in my opinion. A few of them just seemed to have written out in front of them a personal summary of what had happened in their chapters. You aren't supposed to get up in front of class and read to us. One guy it seemed like he was going to read us all of his chapters. That took way too long and wasn't very interesting partly because you couldn't even here what he was saying. I'm sure I speak for most people when I say that we were glad that Fry interrupted. I'm sorry dude.
I liked the book that last group talked about. It seemed interesting and I kinda wish we had done that one. Or burn rate for that matter. I think that the presentation would have been better if they hadn't been rushed for time. I tried taking notes but they went too fast so it didn't work to well especially on the Pros and Cons lists on guy did.

I really am not trying to hurt anyones feelings and I'm sorry if I did it's just my personal reactions to the presentations. You all did well though.

Ahhh Project!

So in class we have this big project due next week. Yay. Not. I really don’t like talking in front of people. At first it all seemed good but then none of us could get a copy of the book until this week. Most of us are probably going to be using the eBook version school which will be interesting. Yesterday we finally decided what chapters we are each going to read and hopefully that will get the ball rolling. I just hope that I can stay awake long enough and find internet so that I can get my part done. I'm a huge procrastinator so this will probably get very interesting right around…hmm.. Tuesday. Yeah I know that is pretty late but that is just the way I work. Plus I have work until eleven this whole weekend. Dun dun duhhh!!!!

Scavenger Hunt!!

I love scavenger hunts!! They are more fun with cameras and cars though!! Ugh we still have seven things left to find off the list. Not including the ones off the Fry's blog that I haven't even looked at yet. Go me!!! Well time to get back to work!! Woo!!!

Traveling

I've never thought about traveling anywhere online ever before. I like traveling in real life so much. I want to go all over the world. That is one of my life goals. I like the excitement of going and seeing the new places and having the memories of going to the place. For one so young I feel like I have gone a lot of places even though most of them are inside of the United States but still it is better than some of the people I know who have not even left this side of Washington state. I do not know if I would enjoy "traveling" to a virtual world. I don't even know where any are or how to get there but if I had to choose one I would probably choose somewhere where I could take my friends or somewhere where they have already been because I'm kinda shy. I'd rather go with someone that knows the place so I wouldn't have to find everything out all by myself. I'd still rather travel somewhere in the real world than the virtual world though.

Kevin Freitas

I really enjoyed Kevin's visit last week. He was fun to listen to and it was fascinating how much of his life is online. I believe that he said that he has been blogging for ten years. TEN YEARS!!! I'm surprised that people can have been blogging that long. It's impressive. I couldn't help but look up some of the things that he had talked about. Especially the Frost Park Chalk off!! That was awesome. It is so cool how one guy starting something as simple as a drawing competition in a park can escalate to something so huge and help save the park form being closed off! That and the pictures were really amazing. I am totally planning on going to check out the chalk off if/when it starts up again. I also really liked how Kevin is planning on letting the site go on by itself with just some little help here and there and how he is keeping it a nonprofit thing. It's just there because he wanted it to be.

Well Placed Trust??

The only reason that I do my financial business online is because it is so simple. I don't do much. Just check the money in my account, transfer funds and once a month I pay my rent check. It is nice to be able to just get to the closest computer and make sure everything is going alright. That and when I had to pay my rent through a check every month it would be late most of the time because I could never get everything I needed together, checkbook, pen, envelope, stamps, postbox. If it was too late then there would be a fine and I can't afford that I don't have enough money. I know that it is potentially really dangerous to do all this online but I have also had an experience where my wallet was stolen and I used my online banking to transfer my funds so they would be harder to get and I believe that, that helped save me from losing the little money I had. I guess I trust the bank websites. I just hope that, that trust is well placed.
